The role of antibodies in transplantation continues to dominate the field of histocompatibility and immunology. Mounting evidence suggests the importance of antibody characterization for liver-kidney transplantation. This webinar lecture will provide an assessment of the impact that DSAs may have on simultaneous liver-kidney transplants and discuss how the liver may play a key role in antibody clearance. This presentation includes a review of Dr. Cusick's most recent data and a live Q&A.

Topics Covered:

  • What is the impact of donor specific antibody in liver-kidney allograft survival?
  • Discuss some of the potential mechanisms by which the liver may provide “immunological cover” in simultaneous liver kidney transplant
  • Lastly, argue for the importance of HLA antibody assessment for liver-kidney transplant
