Part 3 | Cinical Utility of SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Testing
Assessment of the Humoral Response to SARS-CoV-2 Infection Via Novel Multiplexed Assays
Guest speaker: Dr. Deepali Kumar of University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario
Viral antibody testing is not a new concept but the COVID-19 pandemic calls for antibody testing in greater depth and for further applications, such as seroprevalence studies, contact tracing, and pre- and post-vaccine response studies. In this talk on the clinical utility of SARS-CoV-2 antibody testing, Dr. Deepali Kumar with the Transplant Infectious Diseases Program at the University of Toronto reviews how the variety of antibody tests on the market can produce differing results. She also examines how a multi-antigen assay can help characterize vaccine response and clarify how antibodies present in asymptomatic versus symptomatic patients.
